Computer Science for everyday life

The central task of the Institute of Computer Science is research and the provision of courses in the field of computer science. 

Research profile

Applied Computer Science sees itself as an interdisciplinary interface between computer science and other fields, particularly technical and scientific fields. The focus here is on the areas of vehicle information technology and cognitive systems technology.

Vehicle-centered information technology

In addition to issues relating to the use of sensors and actuators in motor vehicles and information processing in vehicles in general, research activities in the field of intelligent assistance systems form the basis for various projects in this focus area.

Cognitive systems technology

The overriding goal in the field of cognitive systems technology is the realization of intelligent systems in private households and in industrial automation (e.g. for inspection tasks or quality assurance), which react independently to intertaction partners and process changed environmental conditions in a targeted manner.

Human-Machine Interaction

This field of research deals with the conception and (technical) realization of interactive systems with the aim of intuitive operation and enjoyment of use. 

In addition, existing systems are tested for their user-friendliness. The fields of application are diverse and include the automobile, smartphones, websites, systems in the home environment, systems specifically for older people and much more.
