What is Positive Computing?
Positive Computing involves the design, implementation, and evaluation of application systems and their influences, with the objective of improving people's quality of life and well-being and supporting them in developing their potential. Within the framework of the research focus, technological solutions are to be developed in an inter- and transdisciplinary approach with continuous consideration of human needs – especially those of older people and disadvantaged groups, societal requirements, and social issues.
The Institute of Computer Science
The research focus on Positive Computing establishes a new field of research in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The establishment of an institute with the same name is currently being funded by the North Rhine-Westphalia state funding competition FH-Kompetenz with a sum of 1,000,000 euros.
The coordinator is Prof. Dr. Stefan Geisler from the HRW Bottrop Institute of Computer Science.
