Study semester abroad
Today, experience abroad is considered an indispensable qualification for professional life and a great asset for personal development: globalized labour markets demand well-trained, interculturally experienced specialists. A longer stay abroad promotes language skills, independence and opens up new perspectives. International education is a high priority at the HRW. As many HRW students as possible should be given the opportunity to spend part of their studies abroad, e.g. as part of a semester abroad.
Study semester at partner universities
HRW has made agreements with its partner universities that make the application process and the organization of the semester abroad easier for students. Your advantage:
- No tuition fees at the host university
- Application via the HRW International Office
- Automatic funding (partial scholarship) through the Erasmus+ program for study
- semesters at the European partner universities
- Support from the International Office of the host university
Study semester at other host universities
HRW students are completely free to choose their host university, i.e. they can also spend a semester at universities other than the partner universities. However, it is important for the subsequent recognition of academic achievements from abroad that the university or course of study is recognized in Germany. As so-called “free movers”, students apply independently to their host university and for scholarships. The International Office also offers general advice on these procedures.
Internships
An excellent alternative to studying abroad is an internship abroad. It is a great way to combine practical and international experience. At the HRW, the compulsory internship semester is best suited for an internship abroad. However, you can also complete an additional voluntary internship abroad. The International Office and the Career Service of the HRW advise students on finding an internship and financing.
