Good scientific practice

Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences is committed to maintaining a high standard of quality in its academic work, in research and in the training of young academics. It therefore adopted the following guidelines in 2012 to ensure good academic practice. The regulations are based on the recommendations of the German Rectors' Conference "Zum Umgang mit wissenschaftlichem Fehlverhalten in den Hochschulen", recommendation of the 185th Plenum of 6 July 1998 and the memorandum of the German Research Foundation "Vorschläge zur Sicherung guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis" from 1998.

Ombudspersons to ensure good scientific practice

According to § 8 para. 1 of the guidelines, an ombudsperson is to be elected as a contact person for the clarification of academic misconduct. "Any member of the university can contact the ombudsperson and inform them of suspected academic misconduct. The ombudsperson also takes up relevant information on their own initiative of which they become aware (possibly also via third parties). They shall examine the allegations for plausibility and significance and advise those who have approached them." (§ 8 para. 3)

The Senate of Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences elected Prof. Dr. rer. nat Andreas Sauer as ombudsperson at its meeting on 29 September 2021. His deputy is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sylvia Schädlich.
