Energy and Environmental Engineering
GREENTEC - ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY
The climate and energy transition presents us with major challenges.
How do we recycle disused wind turbines, for example? How can ecological and economic aspects be reconciled?
As energy and environmental engineers, you will develop innovative answers to these questions. You will help to enable technical progress that protects the environment and conserves resources.
What you can expect
Energy transition, scarcity of raw materials, climate change and environmental disasters: society is facing major challenges. Solutions are being created by green tech - the focus is on energy/environmental technology and resource efficiency.
GreenTech is one of the fastest growing employment sectors in Germany.
The Bachelor's degree enables an initial qualified career entry. Further qualification to Master's level is possible as an option, e.g. the Master's degree course in Industrial Engineering and Energy Systems at HRW.
- Technical solutions for environmental problems; renewable energy systems
- Practical relevance in seminars, exercises and project work
- Modern laboratories and event rooms at the Energy Campus Lab Bottrop
Your study content
You combine the topics of environment, technology and science. This makes you experts in the promising field of "green tech", especially in the areas of energy efficiency, climate protection and saving raw materials.
What will you learn?
You will be taught the basics of engineering and environmental sciences and learn to understand all the associated economic and legal contexts. In addition, you will gain practical know-how through regular work in the laboratory or in practical projects with companies.
What you need to bring along
- Language level C1 is required and the language of instruction is German.
- General or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification
- Alternatively: entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or a qualification recognized as equivalent in the course of professional qualification
- Admission free!

What our students say
"The aim of energy and environmental engineering is to develop technical innovations that protect the environment and conserve resources. That was one reason for me to choose this application-oriented and strongly future-oriented degree course. During our studies, we dealt with many engineering fundamentals. I found subject-specific modules on air pollution control, water treatment and energy efficiency interesting."
