Here you have the opportunity to develop and expand your language skills that are important for you and your context in an individualized way and in addition to our language course offerings. You follow your individual learning path and pace.
Learn languages online with SPEEXX Campus
The HRW now offers all students and employees free online self-study courses for German as a foreign language, English and Spanish - ideal for consolidating your knowledge or getting started. You are flexible and can learn on your computer, tablet or smartphone.
The courses include general language and business modules, supplemented by pronunciation and vocabulary training as well as up-to-date articles and videos with language exercises.
The Speexx modules are structured according to the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Use the integrated placement test to find the right course for your level.

About SPEEXX at HRW
Self-directed learning with Speexx (kick-off)
In special events, you will learn about the possibilities offered by the Speexx modules for self-directed language learning and develop strategies for effectively planning your own learning with Speexx.

Location: Both events will take place hybrid: in the CHARM international Language Learning Lab (CHiLLL) and digitally. In the CHiLLL you will also have the opportunity to get advice, try out the digital learning workstations and exchange ideas with other language learners.

CHARM international Language Learning Lab
CHARM international Language Learning Lab
The CHiLLL offers space for self-directed language learning activities. The COMLETE hybrid room is the ideal place for self-directed language learning. Here you can discover the SPEEXX learning offers individually and with guidance, meet with language tandems and get into conversation on the cozy seating areas by the window. Virtual meetings in tandems and groups are also possible here. The CHARM community is here on site and also digitally networked. Give it a try!

The project COMPLETE (Collaborative Spaces for Online Meets Physical LEarning and TEaching), funded by the Foundation for Innovation in University Teaching, is further developing the learning spaces at all HRW campuses. In addition to providing student learning spaces and hybrid equipment, three seminar rooms were created for activating teaching with digital and analog tools.

Language tandems
Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences offers language tandems via ZfK Online-Sprachcafé. Students can exchange ideas in teams of two and improve their language skills in a practical way. They help each other to learn the other's native language. The language café creates a relaxed atmosphere for intercultural exchange and joint learning. Anyone interested can register at any time and discover new languages!
The CHiLLL offers itself here as a space for experiences and encounters - but the language tandem can take place virtually, on a walk or anywhere - as you wish
