The ShopLab

The ShopLab, also known as the Shopper Laboratory, was opened in the summer semester of 2016 and is used to research many relevant issues in retail and marketing. For example, questions relating to product placement, product design and pricing in stationary retail or the usability of websites in online retail can be researched.

Experiments in the laboratory

To answer the research questions, students use a mixture of eye-tracking, questioning and thinking aloud methods. At the heart of the lab is the eye-tracking equipment consisting of mobile eye-tracking glasses, a stationary eye-tracker (screen with built-in infrared sensors) and an equipment for eye-tracking on mobile devices such as tablets or smartphones (mobile device stand) from Tobii. The eye-tracking goggles allow eye tracking both in the laboratory and in the field. The stationary eye tracker and the mobile device stand are used exclusively in the laboratory for the recordings.
