Laboratory for technical diagnostics

The TD-Laboratory (Laboratory for Technical Diagnostics) includes a series of experimental set-ups that address various aspects of the Business Administration - Industrial Service Management course.

Experiments in the laboratory

In the laboratory, for example, the topic of “compressed air leakage”, which plays an important role in operational practice, is addressed using a demonstration unit. This is because leaks increase the demand for compressed air. In addition to energy costs, this also increases the risk that, for example, not all tools and process equipment are supplied in sufficient quantities. This is why such questions are part of the process: What is the flow rate of the compressor and how much compressed air is actually being used? What and with what effort can ultrasonic localization be used to detect leaks in the running process? How can leak detection be supported by digitalization? In order to be able to classify which leaks should be eliminated in which order, an economic assessment is required. In addition, topics such as oil particle counting and vibration are dealt with and used by other test benches to teach students measurement techniques from the industrial maintenance and service sector.
